Marco Escapes “Must Do” Items

There are three interesting “must do” news items on the horizon, reflective of the search for Excellence that characterizes the philosophy at Marco Escapes.

First is a bit of business news. If you are on Marco Island or nearby on March 6, consider a visit to the Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce “Business Expo”. It’s scheduled to be open from 4 to 7PM  at the Marco Island Marriott Resort & Spa. There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. If you are thinking of doing business with any Chamber members during your stay with Marco Escapes, this is the condensed version of your personal search for excellence in our community. You can reach the Chamber at 239-394-7549.

Second up is what sounds like a fun evening of theatrical entertainment at The Marco Players, as they perform The Last Romance, a romantic comedy by Joe DiPietro. Performances are set for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (matinee), February 13 through March 3rd. So, that is plenty of opportunities to mark your calendar to enjoy this heart-warming story of the transformative power of love. Performances take place at the Players’ Marco Island Town Center venue, with the doors opening at 7:30 PM and curtain at 8:00 PM, Sunday matinee doors open at 2:30 PM, the show starting at 3:00. The Marco Players have a 38-year-long tradition theatrical tradition in the area. For more information, www.TheMarcoPlayers.com

Finally, and clearly a prime example of world-renowned excellence, is 20th Anniversary Celebration of Clyde Butcher’s Big Cypress Gallery in nearby Ochopee (Everglades).  Meet the famed Florida photographer, Clyde Butcher, and tour the swamp around his Big Cypress Gallery as part of the gallery’s 20th anniversary celebration Feb. 16-18. Butcher’s large format still photographs in black-and-white have aficionados classifying him with American legend, Ansel Adams, and his photos of the American West. To see Butcher’s work in person is a rare pleasure. For more information, call 239-695-2428 or www.clydebutcher.com/events.cfm.
